SALE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF DAY 2019
For the 3rd time in a row we were back at St Georges Hill Golf Club, Weybridge for another SGL Championship 2019, where 96 Golfers and 25 Teams competed to win this prestigious prize which was previously awarded to 8 Build in 2017 & The Anslow Partnership in 2018.
This year, together with the perfect golfing weather and the course being in spectacular condition, the competition really heated up with 3 Teams completing with impressive scores of 90 points and over. The final outcome was that third place was awarded to 21 Construction on 90 Points, and with the same points Overbury Core (Team 1) managed Second place on count back. Meaning the outright winners being Overbury Core (Team 2) consisting of Martin Forrester, Bobby English, Scott Howard and Lloyd Lee with 91 Points.
Other trophies awarded on the day comprised of Scott Howard from Overbury Core being the overall Individual Winner after achieving 42 Points, with the longest drive of the day Ross Purcell of Henly Projects and the nearest the Pin awared to Ashley Starkey of Smith Bros. The Texas Scramble Team Competition was won by Vince Lancy, Jeremy Lathom-Sharp, Andrew Sale and Adger Brown. Last but surely not least with a credable 17 point’s, comes the winner of the WC award for golfing ‘at another level’, the great sport, Paul Norris.
Whilst the day was full of excitement and entertainment there was also the serious business of raising funds for The Childrens Trust, Tadworth, which I am delighted to announce that we were able to raise £13,000.00 on the night for this wonderful Charity. This amazing amount achieved is more than the two previous years raised on the Golf Day put together, meaning that in the three years we have been running this completion we have managed to raise nearly £25,000.00 to the Trust, which is fantastic.
This enjoyable event could not have taken place without the participation of the players and the support from our sponsors, as well as those who made such generous donations. I’d like to extend my thanks to all of them, and of course the dedicated staff at St Georges Hill Golf Club, Weybridge.
So well done to all the winners and competitors who took part in this competition which is beginning to achieve the accolade of being the Golf Day “to go to” in the Industry, and look forward to next year’s SGL Championship day on 16th September 2020.

It was another fantastic day at the SGL Championship 2018 with a great turnout. Twenty four teams and eighty eight players battled it out in difficult conditions to win this prestigious prize at the fabulous St George’s Hill Golf Club, Weybridge.
In third place, after a tremendous consistent effort, came the team from Collins with 79 points. Just pipping them to the post, with plenty of competition, were our own Sale Group Team, on a very respectable 81 points. Crowned champions in first place with a heroic 85 points were The Anslow Partnership. The winning team consisted of David Anslow, Chris Millican, Andrew Wootton and Adger Brown.
Other trophies were enthusiastically pursued on the day. Phil Kilgour from Overbury was the well-deserved Individual Winner. Team Bianco Sale shook off the competition to win the Texas Scramble and Andrew Wootton had a great day, also picking up the trophy for ‘Nearest the Pin’. After a long day of good-natured skirmishing on the greens, we were more than happy to retire to the clubhouse to relax and socialise with the generous sponsors and supporters of our charity golf day. I am delighted to announce that the total we raised for The Children’s Trust in Tadworth amounted to an amazing £7,650! This is nearly double the very decent sum we raised last year and is fantastic news for the charity, who will be able to continue changing young lives for the better.
